The Nintendo DS is considered the third pillar of Nintendo's products. It is not the successor to the Game Boy series of hand-held. The DS encountered a lot of criticism before release from many different game critics. After release things turned around as the DS started selling well especially in Japan. Now the DS is generally considered a good product with software available for all types of gamers and none gamers alike. They are also making some new features that are already released in Japan, which are a T.V. on your D.S. and internet capability.
Nintendo DS
The original DS unlike Nintendo's other hand-held products has two screens. Not only that but the bottom screen is also a touch screen allowing new game play options. The DS is compatible with all the Game Boy Advance games but none of the previous Game Boy or Game Boy Color games. The battery last between 6 to 10 hours. The best selling D.S. game by far so far is Mario Cart D.S., which has many new features not in the original Mario Cart for the Nintendo 64.
Price: $149.99(when released)
The new DS Lite really just adresses the issues people had with the original DS by fixing those problems. The most ovious being the new look which replaces the cluncy look of the DS and reduces the size. It also has new screens which are brighter than the originals with four levels of brightness. The styles on the DS Lite is also bigger making it easier to use. Finally on the lower brightness levels the battery last longer than the original. The only physical changes in the D.S. Lite besides color is that some of the buttons are in diffrent places.
